Tech Questions
You’re having a problem accessing one of our sites.
If you get a “404” error message or can’t access page it’s possible a lot of people are trying to access site at the same time, especially if you just got an email message with a link. Please try again a little later.
If you’re still having problems after a few minutes, please let us know what’s going on so we can troubleshoot. You can attach a screenshot of the faulty page, tell us what kind of error you’re seeing, or estimate how long it’s taking to load. The type of device (desktop PC or laptop, iPad, mobile phone), OS (Mac, Windows), and browser will also help.
Note: If your are a member of Serious Bloggers Only or GuestBlogging, you may get a 404 error if you are not logged in and try to access membership content. In this case, you should be shown a login form, which you can use to access the content.
A download link or PDF is not working or the PDF does not display properly.
We test all download links among multiple users on different machines to make sure they work. But stuff happens.
First, try the link in a different browser – Internet Explorer instead of Chrome, for example, or Safari instead of Firefox.
If that doesn’t work upgrading to the current version of Adobe Reader often solves the problem. Get it here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/
If you use some other reader, check if your updates are current and, if they aren’t, install the latest version.
If you still can’t open the PDF, the problem may be with the PDF reader extension in your browser. Check your browser to make sure your PDF reader is enabled and current. (Note: Solutions are dependent on the version of the browser you are using.)
Start with this brief “fix it” tutorial from Adobe with addresses Safari, Internet Explorer and Firefox: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/cant-view-pdf-web.html
This article gives more details on what to do: http://www.ctimls.com/Support/KB/Error%20Fixes/Fix_PDF_Display.htm
If that doesn’t help, please let us know. It would be incredibly helpful if you could provide:
- Your OS (Windows, Mac, Linux)
- Your OS version (Windows 8, Mac OS X 10.7.5, etc.)
- Your browser (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.)
- Your browser version (Firefox 31.0, for example)
- A screenshot of what you’re seeing.
The video is not working.
We use Vimeo to host and display all our videos because it is fully compatible with all browsers and operating systems. If the video is not playing (you see a black screen) or the loading icon keeps spinning, the problem is likely with a slow web connection or browser problem.
Try viewing the video in another browser by copying and pasting the URL at the top of the screen. (You may have to log into your course in that other browser as well to do this.)
If that doesn’t work check out Vimeo’s help page: http://vimeo.com/help
Note: Our videos on Vimeo are not public. If you go to Vimeo.com and paste the URL you will not be able to access the video.
I’m confused about the time of your upcoming webinar.
The three times you see on the sign up page are time zone adjustments, not different times for the webinar. We always include New York time and add time zone adjustments for the US West Coast and either London or Melbourne.
Here’s an easy-to-use time zone converter: http://www.worldtimebuddy.com/
I can’t get into your webinar that already started!
If you can’t join the webinar from the link you were emailed, go to http://www.gotomeeting.com/online/webinar, click the “Join a Webinar” tab at the top right of the screen and enter the nine-digit webinar ID in the email you received and the email address you registered with.
After the webinar is over you can troubleshoot why you couldn’t join the webinar by visiting Citrix Support at http://support.citrixonline.com/Webinar
The “Buy Button” is not working on your sales page.
Ugh, we hate when this happens!
First, please try opening the page in another browser. You may need to copy the link from the top of the page and paste it into another browser. Or, if you’re on an iPad or phone, try from a desktop machine if possible.
Secondly, don’t worry. If there’s a deadline and technical problems prevent you from purchasing, we will honor the offer you viewed.
Third, please email support@smartblogger.com and explain the situation. Our support team will get it sorted for you.
Students and members
My password is not working.
Keep in mind what course you’re taking:
1. Your User ID is your email address and your passwords for Serious Bloggers Only and GuestBlogging are the same (if you’re a member of both).
2. Make sure you’re on the correct login page:
Serious Bloggers Only: http://seriousbloggersonly.com/content/
Guest Blogging: http://guestblogging.com/training/
We have these passwords on file. (Note that Serious Bloggers Only is where you log in for The Six-Figure Roadmap.)
If your password isn’t working, try these tips:
1. Type your User ID (email address) rather than copy/paste. Hidden code may transfer from email and create problems.
2. Type the password (do not copy/paste) and be sure to use capitals. It’s case sensitive.
3. Check for an extra space before or after the password (and User ID/email)
4. Check your keyboard settings. Could it be set to a language other than English? That could potentially enter unwanted characters.
5. If it still doesn’t work, try clearing your browser history and clearing the cache. Here are some tips for that process: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050?hl=en
6. If you have more than one email address, make sure you are using the one associated with your GuestBlogging or Serious Bloggers Only account.
7. If you’re not sure which password you used, contact support@smartblogger.com. Please specify what course password you’re having trouble with, and mention what you’ve done so far (or what you think the problem is, for example, an email address/account no longer exists; problems you’re seeing; any error messages, etc.).
Save your password when you get things sorted. Here are some helpful links:
1. Save your password in the cloud:
- iCloud Keychain: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5813
- LastPass: https://lastpass.com/
2. Save your password on your browser (in case you don’t do this already):
- Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95606?hl=en
- Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/password-manager-remember-delete-change-passwords
- Safari: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11908
- Internet Explorer: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/fill-in-forms-remember-passwords-autocomplete#ie=ie-11
- Opera: http://www.opera.com/help/tutorials/security/password/
Make sure you’re using one of our recommended web browsers and that it’s a recent update.

How do I set up my photo in the SeriousBloggersOnly?
Photos are handled through a free account with Gravatar: https://en.gravatar.com/
If you don’t already have a Gravatar, set one up. Gravatars are used everywhere online. It will make your online life much easier.
If you have a Gravatar account, log in to Gravatar and make sure your photo (gravatar) is associated with the email address in your SeriousBloggersOnly account. That usually fixes the problem.
Questions About Our Courses
GuestBlogging.com Training and Certification Program
GuestBlogging is an in-depth course on how to write guest articles for large, high-profile, high-traffic blogs in exchange for a byline that includes a link back to your blog or landing page. It helps bloggers build a name for themselves online, gain credibility and authority on their topic and build relationships with influential bloggers who may help them later.
Find out more about the GuestBlogging.com Training and Certification Program here.
Blog Launch Formula
BlogLaunchFormula teaches new bloggers how to launch their blog and get 1000 email subscribers using landing pages, guest posting, an email signup incentive, interviews with influential bloggers and promotion techniques. Because so many bloggers start off the wrong way, we spend a lot of time helping them pick the right topic and domain name, and clarify their mission and audience. Membership includes weekly coaching calls and access to a private Facebook group.
Blog Launch Formula opens periodically for new students. If you’re on our email list you’ll get an email notifying you when we’re accepting new students.
Serious Bloggers Only
SeriousBloggersOnly is a monthly membership program for beginning and advanced bloggers. It covers topics from SEO to domain names to the kind of blog posts to write and more. The community and the encouragement, inspiration and support it provides is unlike anything else available for bloggers. Membership includes a monthly minicourse and supplemental materials, a forum and twice-monthly Q&A calls.
Find out more about Serious Bloggers Only here.
How do these three courses compare?
Blog Launch Formula is like the complete culinary school curriculum, soup to nuts. It’s an intensive, year-long commitment, opens for registration periodically and has qualifications for membership.
GuestBlogging is like an intensive course in French cooking and may be the only marketing technique you need to build a popular blog.
Serious Bloggers Only is like a recipe book, where you can grab a new blogging recipe plus the tutorials and get started.
I have a great idea for a guest post for SmartBlogger.com. Who do I send it to?
Please read our editorial guidelines first: //smartblogger.com/write-for-us/
I love Jon! I’d like to interview him for my blog or podcast.
Because of his commitments we’re sorry to say that Jon accepts few interview offers. If you’d still like to submit a request you can do so here: //smartblogger.com/interviews/
I wrote something I think Jon would enjoy and I’d like to get his opinion.
We’re sorry but Jon only reviews posts for students in our courses.
I’ve written a book and I’d love to have Jon review it.
Unfortunately Jon’s heavy schedule doesn’t allow him time to review books. We wish it did. That would mean we all would have more time to read books on the beach.
